Friends of the Earth France and Uganda, together with 4 other organisations, have launched legal action to stop a landgrab and polluting oil project in Murchison Falls natural park, Uganda.
“The situation on the ground is dramatic, with thousands of people already deprived of access to their livelihoods… It’s very difficult for us to defend peoples’ rights in front of such economic interests: our legal system does not allow us to oppose a giant like Total” says Dickens Kamugisha of Africa Institute for Energy Governance.
The new French duty of care law requiring companies to respect human rights and the environment means we can act to stop this!
